* Filth & Foul*-Pardon My French

I had no intentions of posting this very moment until I got home from my grandma's house.  I figured it would let me vent off some of this steam.

I am sick & tired of this FUCKING SNOW!

(now you understand the title?)

Till Christmas, we barely had any snow.  We had one bad snow/icestorm & then we'd been getting about an inch every other day or so.  This was doable.  Now that it's after the holidays, we keep getting INCHES (meaning at least 4-5) every week, but usually more often.  And it's the wet, heavy kind that truckers can get stuck in.  I have a little, blue Chevy Cobalt FWD (which I am grateful for), but small wheels tend to get stuck in big snow.  I just happen to get stuck almost everytime I go to my grandma's which is every day.  Most days, I go there & she needs something from the store, so I have to go back.  If I didn't get stuck the 1st time, it is almost inevitable that I will get stuck the next time.

Take today, for instance, it snowed overnight, again, but only a couple of inches & it's been melting.  I stop over to visit & babcia needs me to go to the bakery.  Great!  Not only do I have to try & find parking, but I also have to make sure I can get in & out without getting stuck.  Of course, the spot in front of the bakery that I was going to take was filled by the time I got around the block.  (parking is very hard to find here even when there is no snow)  So, I spied another spot & wouldn't you know, also filled by the time I got to it. But, this time, there was just enough room for me to park behind it if I backed up a little on the snow bank when I backed in.  Ok, good enough.  Now to the bakery which is around the corner & down the street a little.  No one in the bakery, so I get my goods & head out.  Back at babcia's, I pull up into her mostly snow-filled driveway with the car blocking the sidewalk.  I usually don't get stuck when I park this way.  I take in the bakery goods & chit-chat a little.

I'm supposed to take her to the beauty shop tomorrow because we have a baby shower on Saturday.  But, don't you know it, there's another snowstorm on the way for tonight through tomorrow morning.  I did not mention this because come hell or high water (in which case there would be no snow...grrr) I will get her to the beauty shop.

Back in the car, I attempt backing across the street to the other driveway (my dad suggested it would be easier) & lo & behold I am stuck once again.  This time I am blocking the entire street sideways.  Lovely!  Also, since it started getting cold, my car has a stalling problem.  Probably something with fuel not making it to where it needs to go, but I haven't taken it in because...(a) Low on funds &  (b) it starts right back up.  Of course, this is wasting time when I have to keep doing it.  A car decides to come down the street.  She sits in the car about 5 minutes, looking at me & backs up down the street.  Thank you so very much!  Next time, I will charge for entertainment.  Somehow, after about 15 minutes of rocking the car back & forth, drive to reverse, I made it back into the driving ruts.  No matter how many times this happens, it is NOT something you get used to.  It stills wears so badly on your patience that you want to get out of the car & just leave it. (till the snow thaws)

There is also the issue of the amount of gas it takes to get unstuck.  And, with gas prices the way they are going right now, it's very worrisome.
I am having so many "If-Only's" right now.  I think the major one would take care of a lot.

If only I had the money...

To Make a Short Story Long...

PSST! Yes, you. Is it safe to come out? Hmmm...(looking around to make sure I don't get mobbed) It looks ok. Nobody but us here. WHEW! I really thought everyone would come jumping out & screaming "What took you so long?", "Why haven't you written anything?". Oh, I'm sure I'll hear it anyway...lol! Yes,I know. It's the last day of February & the last hour in eastern time. I really did plan on posting sooner. (likely story, I know!) But what matters is that I am here & ready to bore amaze you with my lengthy never-ending sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat, fantabulous writing! So, without further ado...

February is done! THE END

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
Oh I just kill myself sometimes! LMAO!!!
And no, the men in the white coats did not come to take me away & I don't expect them to (unless one of you lets the cat out of the bag that I escaped)
But seriously folks, (ok, c'mon now, I have to get serious here. Deep breath! ) I think I'm ok now. OM...OM...OM...AH! Done cracking up for now. I think I am in silly mode. It's either due to not enough sleep or the fact that it's back to hell work in the morning. That place is enough to drive anyone nuts! In fact, I believe it's a prerequesite to be at least a little crazy. If you don't go in that way, you will leave that way!

So, I'm happy to announce that the curse, jinx, bad luck, evil eye, etc., that had been following me around is gone (knock wood) at least for now. I am ready to take in all the good luck I can get! Money can start rolling in any time! MONEY? HEL-LO? Hmm...I'm waiting! AHEM! So, anyway, things haven't gotten worse & maybe sort of evened out. Life is pretty much back to- normal.

I don't know what it is about that word-normal. I just don't think it has ever fit me at all. I have never cared much for the word. In fact, I shudder at the very thought that I could ever be...ACK!...normal. And judging by this post, I don't think I am in any danger of that! LOL!

So, life goes on & I am really looking forward to spring. The temps here are supposed to be near 40 pretty much all week so it should melt some of this snow. Although I can't really complain too much about this winter. The most snow we have had was this month. It's been about 6 inches here, 4 inches there. And quite a few nights with an inch or so to wake up to. I do not envy those of you who have had all that snow or those of you who don't usually get snow & did.

Something is up with Mother Nature this year for sure. I hope she gets on some medication soon! I don't think our world can take too much more of her antics.

I pray for all those who have been affected by the devastation around the world.

God Bless every one of you & your families! We can all use some blessings now & then.

So till next time, I remain...

Your friend & certified nut job

It's the Weekend...Finally!

It's Friday! WOOHOO! YIPPEE! YEE HAW! HIP HIP HOORAY! So, I guess I am a little subdued today, don't ya think? Well, it's the weekend & that is enough for me to be happy. I made it through the week at work & only have 7 days left to work till I am off for the summer. And, if I can find something online to do that makes me at least what I make in a day at work, then goodbye cafeteria! Of course, I could probably collect bottles for deposit & make that much, too. I have been there 6 years & have reached my pay cap of $9 an hour. With as much as we deal with from these kids & the school staff, we should be the highest paid employees there. Then we have the people that say with as much money as we make, we should do more. Yes, $9 an hour is really too much. How can we be so selfish? And today, being the last day of school for the seniors, all the kids were wound up. What happens when kids are wound up at lunch? Food fights! It was only the second lunch period that had a food fight out of 3 lunches so I consider that a good day...LOL! There is only one reason I would even consider keeping my job there if I had the money to leave...my daughter. She has 2 more years left of school. We don't live that far from the school, but sometimes I feel better knowing if something happens, I am right there! In that school, it's not a surprise when something happens. It's something expected.

I'm just glad it's the weekend. Hope it's an enjoyable one for all of you!

Can We All Be Free?

Well, I feel guilty that I have not written in a little while. How long has it been? Just over a week but it seems like much longer. I hate starting something & then forgetting or letting it go. It's a very bad habit.
So, I still have the cold, cough, whatever it is. I just have a bad feeling that it's going to turn into pneumonia. It seems more & more people are coming down with pneumonia these days. I never knew it to be so common as the last couple of years. Very scary that these "superbugs" keep mutating & become immune to our medications. Or does the government have something to do with it? Let's save that for another post. I could go on & on about government & big drug companies. But, right now I would rather write about more pleasant things.
I think it actually stems from not-so-pleasant thoughts & feelings. Feelings of stress, depression, worry & probably boredom, too. I guess I'm just tired of everything around here. Work, crime, the schools...I know things are bad all over right now & it's no different here. I watch the news way too much & all you see is bad news. I just want to live free from all that gets me down.
I want to live where I can work from home when I want. I want to wake up & see the sun, sand & surf. I want my daughter to be able to learn all she can in a non-distractive or destructive environment. A place where racial tensions & fights are non-existent. Where teachers really care & kids want to learn. A peaceful, happy place that I don't have to worry about her being. Somewhere she will continue to grow as the loving, caring person we've brought her up to be. A wonderful land where things don't matter as much as people do. Where money isn't the first thing on my mind when I need something. Where people don't have to beg.
I read a blog called "thefutureisred". This family lived in New York & sold everything & have been traveling all over the world with their 5 y/o daughter. Their story so far is amazing. I don't think I could ever be as free as that but just to get out of the rat race & do what you love doing. That's the way to live!
I dream of a day when my family & I can live free of the hustle & bustle of life here. Somewhere tropical, with a warm breeze blowing off the water. I can see the sun & big fluffy clouds that, as you watch, change forms from one thing to another. The warm sand beneath my feet & even the sound of the gulls as they look for food. Going into town, seeing the markets filled with homemade wares like no other. The freshest of food & the smell of it cooking. Feeling full, from food & happiness, as I watch the sunset, knowing that tomorrow will be just as amazing!
Hmmm...one day. One day we will be as free as the gulls that soar & I pray that everyone would be able to experience their own dreams!
With my billowing babushka,
Collette

Easter Vacation

I am so glad that it's Easter vacation, or Spring Break-whatever you want to call it. It's a break for me from work at the high school cafeteria. WOOHOO! (Sorry, I had to get that in!) No matter how many days I get off, I always need more. Less than 2 months left till summer vacation. It can't come fast enough.

Maybe you can tell that I don't like my job much. It has its good & bad points. I've been working there for over 5 years & have been trying to work from home for longer than that. But, I do believe that I am there for a reason. I think that no matter where we are in our lives, we are there for a reason, a learning experience, for ourselves & others. When our "job" is finished there, we are brought to the next lesson. We never cease to learn, to teach, or to grow. I guess my point is that until the need that brought me there has been filled, it's where I will be.

OK, or until I can make at least as much working from home that I make there (which isn't much). So, I just have to get busy & find something online quick! And although taking surveys doesn't sound bad, I just couldn't do too many at once. I just like to work on the computer & at my own pace for maybe an hour or 2 a day. Then get to all the manual labor I do here at home that I don't get paid for (housework!) LOL. If the government would pay us according to all the work we actually do during a week, we would be rich! (until after taxes)

Well, I guess I have bounced around enough subjects for today. Just a little bit of this & that to think about. Back to my online money search & more laundry. If you have any comments or just want to say "HI", leave a comment or message & I'll be back again. Have a great day!

Peace & Laundered Babushkas,
Collette
